Solution Riddle 6

SOLUTION RIDDLE 6:

With the track " the product of their ages is 36 " have eight possible combinations:

1)    1x1x36
2)    1x2x18
3)    1x3x12
4)    1x4x9
5)    1x6x6
6)    2x2x9
7)    2x3x6
8)    3x3x4

The sum of the age is for each of these combinations numer I is:

1)    1 + 1 + 36 = 38
2)    1 + 2 + 18 = 21
3)    1 + 3 + 12 = 16
4)    1 + 4 + 9 = 14
5)    1 + 6 + 6 = 13
6)    2 + 2 + 9 = 13
7)    2 + 3 + 6 = 11
8)    3 + 3 + 4 = 10

With the track ... and the sum it is equal to the number of my house " reporter should be able to determine what the age of the daughters unless the house number is 13, in which case we would have two combinations of possible ages ( combinations 5 and 6). As the reporter said he still missing data, we infer that this is the case in question.

With the track "... the greatest plays the piano " we conclude that one of the daughters is greater than the other two, then we can rule out the combination 5, being then ages daughters 2, 2 and 9 (i.e., the combination 6 ).
